Biography
Benjamin Lievin is a Luxembourg lawyer whose practice focuses on Corporate, Banking & Finance. He advises financial institutions, private equity investors, multinational groups and other domestic and international clients on a broad range of corporate and commercial matters, including mergers and acquisitions, structuring and restructuring operations, and general corporate advisory work.
His practice also extends to a wide range of secured and unsecured financing transactions, in which he acts for both lenders and borrowers on complex domestic and cross-border matters. Benjamin has particular experience in acquisition finance, including transactions involving corporate groups, real estate and asset acquisitions, as well as in refinancing and debt restructuring mandates. He also advises on the structuring, negotiation and implementation of Luxembourg law security and guarantee packages.
Before co-founding the firm, Benjamin spent several years in the Corporate, Banking & Finance departments of two leading international law firms in Luxembourg, where he worked on a number of significant cross-border transactions.
Experience
Selected matters.
- Assisting a syndicate of lenders in connection with the extension of a US$450 million pre-export facility.
- Acting on a €1 billion construction facility financing a large-scale renewable energy pipeline across Spain and Portugal, supported by a consortium of European banks.
- Representing a lender, alongside other commercial banks and a European institution, in relation to a €130 million debt facility granted to support a cross-border industrial project.
- Advising on a US$100 million financing provided to fund the buyout of a minority shareholder in a Polish company.
- Assisting a German bank on two financings relating to the acquisition or construction of passive optical fibre network projects in Germany.
- Acting for a lead arranger in connection with a scalable €725 million facility granted to a pan-European edge data centre platform.
- Advising the leasing arm of a Central European bank on a €50 million financing granted by a European public financial institution, with particular emphasis on the related first-demand guarantee arrangements.
- Assisting an Irish lender on its participation in the £104 million financing of the acquisition of a landmark property in the City of London.
